    PUBLIC General Assembly

Open General Assembly — Shaping STEM: Our European Challenge The afternoon opens the EU STEM Coalition General Assembly to a wider community of policymakers, business and civic leaders, scientists, educators and STEM stakeholders. We start with Ina Brandes, Minister of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, followed by internationally renowned education expert Andreas Schleicher, Director for Education and Skills at the OECD. Their perspectives will set the stage for a broader conversation: What does Europe need from STEM education — and what can we do together to make it happen? The discussion brings together voices from politics, business, science and civil society. Because the challenges facing STEM education cannot be solved by one sector alone. We need to connect expertise, ambition and action across the entire ecosystem. This is not simply a conversation about the future of STEM. It is a conversation about how we shape that future together — and we want you in it. Ina Brandes Minister of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia Ina Brandes has been Minister of Culture and Science of North Rhine-Westphalia since 2022. She brings experience from both politics and the private sector to the region’s agenda for science, education, innovation and culture. Andreas Schleicher Director for Education and Skills, OECD Andreas Schleicher is one of the world’s leading voices on education and skills. As Director for Education and Skills at the OECD, he leads its international work on education and is closely associated with PISA , the OECD’s Programme for International Student Assessment. His work focuses on how education systems can equip people with the knowledge and skills needed for a changing world.
