Girls Go STEM

Girls Go STEM is an educational initiative led by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) , coordinated by EIT RawMaterials , and supported by the Directorate-General for Education, Youth, Sport, and Culture of the European Commission . Our mission is to equip students, particularly young women, with digital and entrepreneurial skills through the Circular Learning Space , fostering sustainability awareness and preparing them for future careers . Girls Go STEM focuses on closing the gender gap in STEM by providing interactive, challenge-based learning experiences. We believe that accessible education is key to driving gender equality in STEM. Present in more than 37 countries and offering a variety of courses translated in 27 languages , since its inception in 2020 Girls Go Circular has already trained more than 78,000 girls all over Europe and 100,000+ students in total. Besides the learning programme, our initiative offers other exciting opportunities for schoolgirls: Every year, we organise our flagship event, the  Women and Girls in STEM Forum , and as part of it, we launch a  student challenge . We invite teams of girls aged 14–19 to develop creative ideas addressing real-world issues. The best team from each country attend the Forum and compete internationally, with the top 3 teams pitching live on stage. Students and Teachers can become Girls Go STEM ambassadors and be part of a one-year programme with dedicated training and mentoring and opportunities to speak at international events. Girls Go STEM organises several in-person hackathons and company visits in various European cities throughout the year to expose girls to the industry through hands-on experience. The initiative also offers courses for teachers on topics such as AI, entrepreneurship, Intellectual Property, misinformation and inclusion. The Teacher Awards celebrate teachers who creatively use Girls Go STEM educational resources to inspire STEM learning.
