Die Zukunftswerkstatt Buchholz für den Landkreis Harburg (zwb) wurde in einer gemeinschaftlichen Aktion von Politik, Unternehmen, Stiftungen, Verbänden und Schulen aus der Region gegründet, um Kinder und Jugendliche für MINT-Themen zu begeistern und dadurch dem bedrohlich zunehmenden Fachkräftemangel wirksam zu begegnen. Seit Aufnahme ihres Betriebes im Jahr 2012 arbeitet die zwb in Abstimmung mit den diversen regionalen Stakeholdern im MINT-Bereich daran, ihrem Auftrag gerecht zu werden. Seit 2017 ist die Zukunftswerkstatt Buchholz als MINT-Region Landkreis Harburg zentrale Anlaufstelle des MINT-Netzwerkes.

Gemeinsames strategisches Ziel der Netzwerkpartner ist die Förderung des Interesses an MINT in der Region.

Die Zukunftswerkstatt übernimmt Aufgaben im Bereich der Koordination, Organisation und Öffentlichkeitsarbeit, um die Vernetzung aller Partner miteinander zu stärken. Ein wesentlicher Bestandteil ist die Vernetzung von Schülerinnen und Schülern mit regionalen Unternehmen, um die duale Ausbildung zu stärken.
