Der VDI e. V. ist ein technisch-wissenschaftlicher Verein mit aktuell 125.000 Mitgliedern. Über seine 45 Bezirksvereine, die ganz Deutschland abdecken, entfaltet der VDI insbesondere über den VDI-Joachim-Herz-Technikfonds, die VDIni- und Zukunftspiloten-Clubs sowie die \"Technotheken\" ein Angebot zur Förderung von Technikbegeisterung und Technikmündigkeit.
