Oft wird Menschen beigebracht, Wissenschaft als kalt, hart und objektiv zu betrachten. Meine Erfahrungen haben mich jedoch zu einer ganz anderen Überzeugung geführt. Für mich ist Wissenschaft warm. Das wissenschaftliche Feld hat mir ein Zuhause geboten, in dem ich wachsen und gedeihen konnte. Für mich ist Wissenschaft nachgiebig und dynamisch. In ihrem Prozess liegt die Fähigkeit, alte Ideen zu überwinden, um Platz für neue Entdeckungen und Fortschritte zu schaffen. Für mich ist Wissenschaft persönlich. Ich bringe meine facettenreiche Identität ins Labor ein, und sie beeinflusst die Arbeit, die ich wähle, und die Art und Weise, wie ich sie ausführe. In diesem Vortrag werde ich meine Reise in eine wissenschaftliche Karriere in Neuropsychologie und Neuroimaging teilen und meine Herkunft als queere Sikh im Zusammenhang mit meinen akademischen Bestrebungen diskutieren.
